ADI SHARC

Analog Devices DSP is synonymous with quality and price/performance, particularly in the 16 bit high volume areas. They are the undisputed leaders in the 16 bit DSP processor segment and are currently being challenged in this area by leading edge FPGA designs. Although the challenge from FPGA designs is much greater for higher end floating point processors, it is also significant for 16 bit designs.

DSP implementations are often about volume and price/performance for OEM designers and ADI DSP group has done very well in this 16 bit segment. They introduced the Blackfin processor for a variety of multimedia applications and dominated the market segment for these video applications worldwide. Other specific chips for motor control, voice applications and other general purpose applications have also been developed.

Unison works on the Analog Devices DSP SHARC with a complete development environment and some algorithm tools from ADI. It includes support for many DSP routines along with a complete ultra tiny embedded Linux or Posix RTOS (kernel and I/O) and cross development using VisualDSP++. Please consult the factory for details related to this DSPnano RTOS implementation.

Other RoweBots products offer extensive DSP libraries and ultra tiny Linux I/O services for various Analog Devices DSP solutions. These communications optimized routines allow users to quickly and easily realize advanced signal processing designs using VisualDSP++. Other near term advances in Analog Devices DSP implementation will offer new options to users.
